SHAPE Metrics

This course is derived from the recording of an Aspect SHARE session on SHAPE Metrics. It aims to equips university staff with practical strategies to effectively measure, articulate, and communicate the diverse value generated by Social Sciences, Humanities, and Arts (SHAPE) research commercialisation and knowledge exchange. Learn to design proportionate, credible, and decision-useful measurement practices tailored to your institution's context.

The SHARE session, held in September 2026, focussed on which metrics to use to support successful SHAPE pipelines and commercialisation projects.

 Discussion questions:

 1) What are the signs of a promising pipeline? What metrics can you use to assess the maturity of your pipeline?
 2) How do you identify success ?
 3) What metrics do you use to report on activity (is it like STEM or different) ?

Featuring:

Carolina Sepúlveda, Director of Innovation at Universidad Alberto Hurtado (Chile)
Tomas Coates Ulrichson, Director of the University Commercialisation and Innovation (UCI) Policy Evidence Unit at the University of Cambridge
Kate Taylor, Acting Chief Commercialisation and Development Officer at QUT (Queensland University of Technology)
